Nuby DeLeon is the CEO and Chief Creative Officer of Nimble Dragon Studios, a media and production company located in Sullivan County, New York. With over a decade of experience producing videos for nonprofits, he has developed a unique approach to filmmaking. By integrating social science and psychology with the art of visual storytelling, he has crafted a storytelling process that enhances emotional connections with audiences. His understanding of how the brain processes visual information allows him to create impactful narratives that resonate deeply with viewers.
Numerous nonprofit videos he has created have received some of the highest international accolades in video production, including multiple Telly Awards. These honors reflect the exceptional quality of production and storytelling that highlight the nonprofits he collaborates with on a global stage. More importantly, the outcomes he delivers for these organizations enable them to significantly enhance awareness for their causes.
Nuby's profound insight into the filmmaking process is the result of his three-decade creative journey. His primary lesson from studying Architecture is to always design with intention. He incorporates this principle into every facet of his creative work, as he believes that understanding the reasoning behind decisions prompts the mind to consider whether it truly represents the best approach. His college experience also ignited his enthusiasm for graphic design. Designing spaces and building models in Architecture school also contributed to Nuby's skills in set design.
Nuby grew up in a family rich in music and the arts, where he established and operated a recording studio for a decade, gaining extensive knowledge in all aspects of audio production. This experience exposed him to a diverse range of music genres, which later became crucial in his ability to select the ideal music to enhance a story's mood, as well as in mastering the technical aspects of sound recording and mixing for film. Alongside his work as a sound engineer, he attended master classes in sound design for film, learning from leading professionals in the industry.
The next step in his journey brought him into the world of fashion photography where he learned creative and unusual lighting techniques that translate perfectly into cinematic lighting. Instead of using flash photography to shoot stills the same process applies using constant lights and shooting moving pictures. Throughout his career as a photographer he has mentored dozens of photographers through a fashion photography group he founded called, Hudson Valley Click, which grew to over a thousand members within just one year.
He eventually discovered filmmaking, where he recognized that he could combine all the skills he had acquired throughout his creative journey into a single art form. This realization inspired him to seek education in all facets of filmmaking, studying under some of the industry's finest. Today, his storytelling approach reflects the culmination of his experiences and education, which he utilizes to support the community by assisting nonprofits in raising awareness for their causes.
